The Nature-Loving Campus
Our teachers at school have been trying to follow the idea of the Satoyama Initiative in the Nature Area. Located in the foothills of the Taipei Basin, our school provides a stunning backdrop of lush greenery views. It is a place that is far from the hustle and bustle of the city and the accompanying noise. The school grounds are filled with trees and grass, creating an environment that allows students to experience nature in its purest form. Furthermore, Kang Chiao International School is home to a variety of wildlife. From rare and endangered species, such as collared scops owls, to common insects, it is an incredible privilege to be able to live in harmony with them, observe them, and learn from them on this wonderful campus. It is also our responsibility to take good care of them and provide an ideal, comfortable home environment for them to thrive.
In order to create a comfortable home environment for animals and insects, the school established the Nature Area with its own pond, creek, and birdhouse. Through this area, we create a habitat with diverse ecosystems. As the Nature Area matures, it will become an attractive destination for an array of avian species to build nests, remain for the winter, or even establish residency. Teachers can also have the opportunity to educate students on the importance of appreciating nature and exploring the meaning of life.
