Research Process
◆ Interviewing
and inspired us for more ideas.
After receiving a reply from Professor Chien-Chih Chen, we were excited that he decided to visit our campus for an interview. On the day of the interview, we were very nervous to meet with Professor Chen, who is a highly accomplished scholar. We were also anxious to learn more about the Satoyama Initiative from him. In our excitement and nervousness, Mr. Ciou, our science teacher, accompanied Prof. Chen to the entrance of the school. We were relieved to be greeted by Prof. Chen and began our interview by visiting the natural fields on campus. We introduced the vegetables we grew and the unique trees in the nature garden area. Mr. Ciou also introduced Prof. Chen to the unique geographical environment of our campus. During the interview, each member of our group prepared questions related to the Satoyama Initiative. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we were only able to ask questions on the following topics such as why he is interested in the Satoyama Initiative, specific species related to the Satoyama Initiative, and any cases of coexistence between men and nature that we can investigate. Prof. Chen was patient and provided us with more information. Within the interview, Prof. Chen suggested that we broaden our research and include more recent environmental concepts like eco-civilization and Taiwan Ecological Network.
