英文課程教學特色
The International Department : Developing Culture Sensitivity and Fostering Self-Esteem
In addition to the vision, mission and goals of Kang Chiao Bilingual School, Character, Bilingualism, Critical Thinking, and Performance have been identified as most relevant to children in the Elementary School. The achievement of these outcomes by all students is the goal that core curriculum subjects should facilitate.
The core curriculum subjects, their content, and the teaching, learning and assessment strategies are the means to achieve the outcomes of Character, Bilingualism, Critical Thinking and Performance. Students’ achievement of outcomes builds a foundation of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are the platform for success within society.
Kang Chiao Bilingual School has high aspirations for its students: that they develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, practice and attitudes necessary to become 21st Century citizens who not only participate in, but who also shape the future; that they become international leaders.
The curriculum of the International Department encompasses these high aspirations and consists of three components: Language Arts, Projects and Assignments and English Village.
Language Arts
Language Arts exposes students to the standards, demands and practice of an English core reading program; standards, demands and practice that are critical to international competiveness.
Projects and Assignments
Project and assignment work extend the texts that students are exposed to at Kang Chiao, prompt them beyond the books and provide opportunities for personal response to, and evaluation of, different genres. Project and assignment work also provide for performance which improves students’ confidence in English.
English Village
The lesson plans provided by English Village extend opportunities for performance, and within situations that students will encounter in real life locally and internationally. English Village equips students with an awareness of, and the skills necessary within international environments.
Threading through the curriculum components of Language Arts, Projects and Assignments and English Village are the International Department’s ultimate (or hidden) goals, to:develop students’ sensitivity to different cultures, and foster their self-esteem.
It is these ultimate goals that are the International Department’s most significant contribution to the school’s aspiration that students accomplish roles of international leadership.

康橋英語村
康橋英語村於青山校區成立之初,即正式規劃入國際處英語課程,目的是讓孩子們學習不同情境的應用,進行職業探索、國際文化體驗,進而提升每個英語表現力。
英語村共建置了機場、銀行、商店、咖啡廳等十幾個不同的模擬情境,規畫一到六年級完整的課程,各年級每學期進行四、五個不同的英語村主題課程,內容包含課堂主題學習及演練,還有情境教室的實際體驗。我們希望康橋的孩子們,藉由英語村的教學活動能夠把英文說得更道地、更合宜、更自信,也希望孩子們能將他們的想法、創意跟老師分享,在英語村的每個情境教室激盪更多學習的火花。
前往 康橋英語村English Open Day
傳統英語教學課程中,較注重老師單向傳授知識,教學單元結束後,透過評量測驗卷,以得知學生吸收的程度;學生的角色較被動的,偏重於知識的接收。在康橋的英語課程中,特別重視「專題報告」,學生被視為知識的探索者,在老師的引導下,進行任務分組,透過小組討論、探究、整理、報告發表,讓每一位孩子都參與主動學習的過程,分工合作、發揮己長,進而完成英語專題報告與呈現。
為了讓家長分享孩子的學習成果,國際處每學年舉行English Open Day成果發表,提供家長們一個直接參與的機會,來瞭解康橋英語多元學習的成果。
英語文競賽
每年定期舉辦校內英語班際競賽,例如:低年級有英語歌謠比賽、中高年級有英語朗讀比賽、演說比賽等,讓學生有上台的機會,藉此培養自信心、訓練台風、並展現學習的成果。此外,有校外英語比賽的機會,亦安排優秀學生代表參加,讓學生在英語文方面更多發光發熱。
節慶活動
定期舉辦重要的節慶活動,例如:萬聖節、聖誕節、國際週等活動,透過豐富、趣味的活動設計或是班級表演,讓學生體驗了中西文化差異,瞭解多元文化特色,開啟國際視野,讓英語學習更加生動活潑。
英語社團
英語小記者社 KCIS Reporter Club
學生學習如何成為一名英文記者,發行雙周報KCBS Tribune(康橋論壇),內容皆由學生撰寫,包含:學生對時事的想法與意見、校園採訪報導、運動專文、書評、影評、以及熱門主題事件等。同時製作KCBS Morning Announcements(康橋晨間新聞),學生運用iPad錄影並使用iMovie編輯影片,學習剪輯影片並插入音樂及文字,展現英文表達和創作能力。
英語話劇社 English Drama Club
英語話劇社提供給愛表演的孩子們一個舞台。
戲劇的學習主要是以活動參與來達到教育與學習的目的。孩子們在課堂上透過許多遊戲來學習戲劇的一些元素,例如:記憶、走台步、肢體動作、想像力、創造力、表情、聲音等等。經過這些活動的訓練,孩子們在上舞台表演時會更有自信、更有說服力。
