Taiwan Blue Pheasants

The Fuxing community in Chishang Township is situated at the base of the coastal mountain range and boasts a rich ecology with minimal human interference. In collaboration with the Forestry Bureau, the community's residents have conducted ecological surveys of the mountains and paddy fields with the aim of promoting the coexistence of agriculture and ecology while being friendly to the environment. During the field survey, rare wildlife such as Taiwan blue pheasants was observed. Taiwan blue pheasant is an endemic bird species in Taiwan and is also a second-class rare conservation wildlife on the conservation list. Taiwan blue pheasants thrive in Taiwan's primary forests. They can be found at elevations between 300 and 2,000 meters above sea level. They often appear in pairs to feed quietly in open areas under the forest or on forest roads at dusk, or in poor weather conditions when the light is dim. Due to the excessive exploitation of forests at middle and low altitudes, the pristine environment of their habitat has significantly diminished, and excessive hunting has seriously threatened the survival of Taiwan blue pheasants.
