Origin
◆ The Name
The reason I named the foundation “X5”is that it’s a more interesting name than “Lin Tzu-Hung Foundation.”When you see “X5 Foundation,” you will think it’s interesting and you might wonder how to pronounce it. Is it called “Chen Wu,” or is it called “X5”? Then you will be keen to know what this foundation is doing, and you might be interested in this foundation. The foundation logo, a heart with five X’s, makes a strong impression for people.
◆ Mission
Besides making up for the regrets I had during practice, in the beginning the goal of establishing X5 Charity Foundation was to bridge the gap between the resources we have and the resources from other existing charity groups. When children are diagnosed with rare diseases, there are some organizations in society to help. Take this foundation, Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders (TFRD), for example, when a public welfare organization has a certain program or event to run, they have to take the foundation’s grant or budget into consideration. With our help, foundations like this will be able to help more people.
This is the goal of our foundation. We don’t really have to do things that other people are already doing. What we can do is help existing charity groups use whatever resources they have to achieve more.
