The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by In this month’s Fun Lab, you get to do something
C.S. Lewis is my favorite book in the Narnia series, parents and teachers usually tell you not to do: drop
which is also where the adventure starts for Susan, things on the floor! Why? Because this month we are
Edmund, Peter, and Lucy. This book is about the four exploring gravity.
Pevensie siblings getting through a magical wardrobe Let’s get started! First, hold a ball and a piece of paper
into the land of Narnia, only to discover that it is at the same height and drop them together. You'll see
covered in snow and ice, because of the snow queen. the ball falls faster. Now crumple the paper and try again.
It takes all of their courage, love and determination,
and a lot of Aslan (The great lion)’s power to save What happens now? They fall at almost the same speed.
Narnia, and more importantly, get rid of the snow queen. That's gravity at work.
I admire how the author makes the adventure magical, while also Gravity is a force we cannot
making readers’ minds pop up with questions until the end. Will they see, but it is always working. It
save Narnia and capture the snow queen? Or will they have to live a life pulls everything down toward
in eternal winter with snow, stones, thunder, and ice? I’ll leave it to you the Earth. When you drop a

G6’s Campaign for Change
Adam Chiang, York Chang, Ian W., Yuan Lien
What if students could turn ideas into real change? This year, our G6 students
experienced this through the project Campaign for Change. They began by exploring social
or environmental issues, then created action plans. “The main goal is for students to stop a
problem from getting worse with their own ideas,” said Mr. Molloy, our grade 6 head teacher.
Each team worked in different ways toward the ultimate goal. Some students organized
bake sales to raise funds for charities by baking and promoting their products. Others
designed posters and videos with powerful messages to raise awareness. Some even
reached out to the community by cleaning beaches or giving meals to the homeless. “It was
amazing to see our ideas become real and helpful,” said Louisa Lin from Class 606. Through
this experience, students learned that even small actions can make the world a better place.
Step by Step to Snow Mountain Charlotte Wang, Alicia Lee, Joy Lin, Shin Lin
As part of a meaningful graduation tradition, G6 students hike Snow Mountain and receive
their certificates at the summit. However, this journey does not begin right before the climb.
It starts years earlier. “Preparation builds over time,” said Mr. Tsai, the DSA coordinator.
Through swimming sessions and running in events like Water Gala and Little Iron Man,
students at KCIS gradually develop the strength and endurance needed for this challenge.
As the climb approaches, the training becomes more demanding, including stair climbing
and hiking smaller mountains, pushing G6 students both physically and mentally. “Students
need to be strong enough to take care of themselves first, then they can help others, and
finally the whole class,” added Mr. Tsai, based on his years of experience guiding students
on the climb. For G6 climbers, reaching Snow Mountain shows years of preparation, while
inspiring younger students to begin their own journey.
