At the end of last semester, our students took center stage in a series of vibrant inter-class competitions that celebrated their English skills, imagination, and confidence. These moments were about much more than performance; they were opportunities for students to develop essential skills they will carry into the future.
In a world that is constantly changing, the ability to communicate clearly and think creatively is invaluable. Through these competitions, students challenged themselves to express ideas with clarity, originality, and self-assurance, gaining confidence with every step.
Innovation was evident across all grade levels. Students explored new ways to present ideas—through music, storytelling, drama, and digital creativity—while learning the importance of collaboration, problem-solving, and creative risk-taking.
The quality of this year’s entries was outstanding. Younger students brought joy and energy with memorable song performances, middle grades impressed us with expressive and imaginative dramatic readings, and fifth graders showcased inventive storytelling in a variety of engaging formats. Meanwhile our 6th graders made the case for why their "Unsung Heroes" should be celebrated.
We commend every participant for their dedication, bravery, and enthusiasm. These competitions were not just celebrations of talent, but powerful learning experiences that encouraged growth, adaptability, and original thinking. Thank you to our teachers and parents for their continued support, and congratulations to all of our students for making this year’s competitions such a success!
Children naturally love stories and fairy tales. This joy becomes a powerful motivation for learning when they become storytellers themselves. In this issue, we look at how grade 3 students re-wrote classic fairy tales by changing the problem or flipping the resolution. As they decided why and how to make these changes, students were guided to think more critically about characters' actions, and consequences, while developing their language and writing skills. Grade 5 students created realistic stories focused on gender stereotypes. By observing everyday people and situations, they explored how assumptions about gender shape experiences and relationships. Through storytelling, abstract ideas such as gender equality, respect, and understanding became concrete and meaningful.
We warmly invite parents to read the grade 3 fairy tales and scan the QR code created by our Student Reporter Club to listen to the grade 5 stories.
