As the December cold front arrived, the temperature dropped quickly and the Christmas atmosphere gradually filled the air. Although the weather was cold, our hearts felt warm and cozy thanks to the holiday events. The International Department views this season as a chance for celebration; the perfect canvas to paint lessons of empathy, cooperation, kindness, and connections that warm the spirit.

Lighting the Star of Hope

After Halloween, our office staff put their heads together, determined to come up with meaningful ideas for the Christmas season. We were grateful that everyone in the school community was willing to roll up their sleeves and got involved.

The month of celebrations began with decorating the Christmas tree on the 6th floor. Students wrote their wishes on adorable cards and hung them on the tree. The Principal lit the Christmas star, and we sang a Christmas song together. It was a perfect start to the season.

In the days that followed, students donated toys to the Taiwan Toy Library Association, wrote appreciation cards to parents, friends, and teachers, played soccer with Santa, and enjoyed a musical concert on the 3rd floor. Through these activities, we hope all Kang Chiao students felt the Christmas spirit surrounding them.

The Power of Unity

For our freshmen—Grade 1 students—and our slightly tentative but growing Grade 2 students, we created an authentic and joyful holiday experience. During this warm Christmas season, each class prepared a 3–4 minute Christmas Carol Show for the whole school. At the beginning, they chose their song. To make the performance shine, our young learners discussed props, costumes, and even dance formations.

Through this project, students learned how to cooperate with their classmates and strengthen their team spirit. Their mission was accomplished with sweaters, smiles, and laughter which created unforgettable early memories. As they rehearsed, collaborated, and performed, they also became more familiar with the school environment and more confident in themselves.

Carriers of Warm Intent

During afternoon break throughout December, Kang Chiao students were as busy as bees. Many headed to the English Village Bank to buy a postcard and write a Christmas postcard to send their friends or teachers.

Students paid ten Kang Chiao Dollars to purchase a limited-edition postcard. English Village teachers guided them in writing short and heartfelt messages to their recipients. Our reliable volunteers then helped sort and deliver the postcards along with Christmas candy. It is no wonder this activity has become so popular. Every message brought smiles, warmth, and a little holiday magic.

The True Meaning of Giving

With the dedication of our teachers and staff, we witnessed most students engaging wholeheartedly in the Christmas activities. Throughout the events, not only did our students show care for others, but they also received warmth and blessings in return. We hope this experience helped build a positive and caring environment in our community.

Celebrating a Season of Warmth and Joy

At Kang Chiao, we believe a well-designed environment can inspire children's curiosity, so we carefully create diverse learning spaces that encourage students to explore. In the Grade 2 Kang Chiao Treasures project, children toured the campus, observed different areas, and even learned to film short videos to recommend their favorite spots to Grade 1 students. Curious about what treasures our campus holds in the eyes of our students? We invite you to read the wonderful articles by Mr. Kraus and some Grade 2 students.

December is one of the most joyful months at Kang Chiao, as Christmas traditions fill the campus with warmth. Our Spirit Calendar, Candy Grams, and Grade 1–2 carol performances bring excitement each day. Students use their Kang Chiao money to buy post cards and candy canes, delivered by English Village helpers to teachers and friends, spreading kindness throughout the school. I am deeply grateful to our teachers and staff, who work tirelessly to make these traditions meaningful. I wish all our families a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
